University of Calgary

University of Calgary

2500 University Drive NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1N4

Through Eyes High, a transformational era continues to excite and energize the entire University of Calgary community.   Eyes High is a bold and ambitious strategic vision to become one of Canada’s top five research universities by its 50th anniversary in 2016.  With more than 34,000 students in 14 faculties and a campus in Qatar, 85 Research Institutes and Centres plus 6,500 faculty and staff members, the University of Calgary is guided by determined leadership that is energized and focused on its goals.

In a university that is continually changing, you will be charged with forging a new path as you help reconceptualize the role of the Registrar.

As a part of the Senior Leadership Team you will work with University stakeholders to conceptualize ‘next practices’ of the registrarial function. As the front line interface between the University and its students you will develop data-driven processes that focus on transparency, accountability and effectiveness from initial recruitment and admission to graduation.  As a leader in strategic enrollment management you will set the direction for the unit while communicating clear objectives and accountabilities to the Associate Registrars and staff and leading innovation that enables the delivery of a premier service experience.

As the Registrar you will champion innovation and collegiality within a group of nearly 100 dedicated and industrious staff.  You will engage extensively with the University’s IT group to set a new standard in online service delivery. You will be an innovative and inclusive leader who builds trust and confidence in others through strong mentorship and by being transparent, forthright and honest.  Together, your team will develop processes and service enhancements that will engage students through in-person and technology-based offerings.

In addition to holding a graduate degree (doctoral degree would be considered an asset); the ideal candidate has a minimum of 15 years progressive experience in an academic or educational enrollment services environment (candidates with a registrarial background in an academic culture will be strongly considered for this dynamic and crucial position).

You are ready to realize your full strategic potential by creating a unique registrarial environment in a brilliantly engaged organization where ambition is a vital part of the culture.

More specifically, the ideal candidate:

  • Has a minimum of 5 years experience at a senior leadership level demonstrating outstanding skills and success in developing a vision and leading people to achieve exemplary performance and outcomes;
  • Has a proven ability to lead, manage, motivate and develop a team;
  • Demonstrates the ability to influence, lead and inspire others to achieve operational goals; and
  • Demonstrates the ability to mentor and interact effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.

Starting salary range: $150,000 to $185,000.
